Employment Law and Civil Rights Actions

I represent workers who are wrongfully not paid wages in violation of the Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection Law and who are wrongfully discharged, denied employment opportunities and benefits because of an employer’s failure to make required employment accommodations, because of perceived health or medical limitations, or because of illegal discrimination in violation of Pennsylvania or Federal Law. In these cases, I represented workers at a Furniture Factory whose plant was shut down and then re-opened without paying them long overdue back pay. I was able to obtain recovery for these workers for these wrongfully withheld wages from the Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection Law, a state statute, and other common law claims. I have represented a worker who was denied a promotion allegedly because of gender stereotyping. Through current law this is more easily established as discrimination on account of sexual orientation. I represented a Fire Caption who was wrongfully put on medical disability because of perceived physical limitations or because of another wrongful basis, who was, in settlement, reinstated with a substantial monetary payment. I represented workers who won their employment position through a lawsuit premised upon the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act prohibition of Age Discrimination. I represented workers with settlements obtained after being denied promotion or hire because of violations of the Civil Service Code and Home Rule Charter for Philadelphia and because of alleged racial discrimination in civil actions filed pursuant to Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
